Spiritual Wellness
Wellness is a concept that is best understood in terms of our faith . Not only are we told that we are created in God’s image but also that our God wants for each one of us health, wholeness and happiness.
The study of wellness conducted by the University of Wisconsin at Stephens Point during the 90’s divided wellness into 6 areas on which we might focus: physical, emotional, social (which means getting outside of ourselves to help others or the environment), intellectual, occupational and spiritual wellness. Our regular worship leads us to spiritual wellness; and adult education and Bible study classes make us intellectually well and socially well. St. Paul’s is adding two new staff persons to deal primarily with physical and emotional wellness. Veronica Grosch has many years experience is the areas of mental health and addiction. Leslie Kubera brings a wealth of knowledge in the area of nutrition and fitness. I have asked both to introduce themselves. They will share an office in the Lockwood-Reilly building and are available by appointment. Their fees will be discounted for members of St. Paul’s. We welcome Veronica and Leslie to our staff.
Veronica Grosch
In my extensive experience in both the mental health and addiction fields, I have been privileged to share many journeys with clients as they have encountered the difficult, as well as the joyful challenges of life.
Believing that, as a woman of faith, I could bring a faith infused perspective to therapy, I began the long process of obtaining the education necessary for me to become the therapist I wanted to become. I hold a Master’s Degree of Human Relations and Counseling from Villanova University; Certification as a Psychodramatist and Group Psychotherapist; a Master’s of Arts in Religion from Lutheran Seminary; Certification as a
Co-Occurring (mental health and addiction) Professional.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to provide counseling services at Saint Paul’s – this is an opportunity I have long hoped for.
Leslie Kubera
I have my undergraduate degree in Nutrition Science from the Pennsylvania State University and went on to get my Master’s Degree in Nutrition Education at Immaculata University while working on my Nutrition Therapy Internship at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. I am registered with the American Dietetic Association and licensed to practice in the state of Pennsylvania and have 15 years of experience working in a clinical hospital setting, providing medical nutrition therapy and more recently working in the areas of wellness and weight management. I am certified in both Adult and Adolescent/Childhood Weight Management. In addition to my consulting business, I work at the Lionville YMCA teaching children about healthy eating, as well as conducting a group weight management program. I provide individual counseling to the YMCA members.
My experience includes helping individuals with various medical issues (hypertension, blood lipid disorders, kidney disease, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal problems), weight management needs, or those who simply want to lead a healthier lifestyle. My counseling is designed to meet clients’ individualized needs.
