Capital Campaign

Commitment Sunday, May 16, 2010

In order for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church to continue to grow, we must be proactive. The leadership of St. Paul’s has accepted the challenge of guiding us into the 21st century and preparing us to serve God and each other for another two hundred years. We must be faithful to use His resources to do the work needed to help build the kingdom. Our church launched our Capital Campaign entitled, Preserving Our Past to Build a Foundation for Our Future, last April to aid us in preparing to do what only God can do. With the growth and development of our ministries, we will have the needed resources to move forward impacting our community so that they might hear the loving and saving message of Jesus Christ. These exciting days bring us to a new challenges.

On Commitment Sunday, May 16th, everyone in our church was given the opportunity to make a three-year commitment over and above what they are currently giving to the operating budget. We celebrated with a wonderful parish BBQ that served over 100 Parishioners.  Lots of good food, plenty of desserts and the kids had a great time on the moon bounce.  We should all be very proud of what we are accomplishing at St. Paul’s. On that day, we eclipsed our goal of $250,000.

To date we have received pledges for $284,000, or 114% of our goal. The Vestry has begun the process of putting the money to work:

  •  The renovation of our organ began on August 8, and should be completed by the end of the month.
  • The piano donated by Leroy Coer in memory of his wife Jeanne has been picked up and will be fully restored for our Christmas celebration.
  • Engineers and heating and air conditioning experts are presently analyzing the best move to bring our electrical system up to date in order to support a new system and the advisability of switching to a natural gas system. Given the age of the building, we are moving slowly in order to do it wisely. All things being equal, this should be the last summer that we will be without air conditioning.

It is good to see the fruit of our labor – and it is exciting when everyone pulls together to reach our goal. It is never too late for new members to join us in making a pledge that will help with other projects at St. Paul’s.
