Worship

frontwindowThe worship services at St. Paul’s reflect the warmth and hospitality of our parish family. Visitors frequently comment not only the beauty of our liturgy, but how at home they feel worshiping with us.

The Episcopal Church is first and foremost a worshipping community. Christians come together around the communion table week after week to worship and celebrate God through our savior Jesus the Christ. Prayer, reading of scripture, teaching, hymns and songs of praise, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist define and shape our Sunday morning experience. Probably more than any other contemporary religious group, Episcopalians are people of a prayer book. The Book of Common Prayer guides our common worship, private devotions and is the source of most of our theology—how we speak about God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. At St. Paul’s Parish we have many opportunities for public worship. The 8:00 AM Service is a contemplative service of the Holy Eucharist (Rite I) using Elizabethan English in our prayers. Our 10:00 AM Sunday service is a celebration of the Holy Eucharist (Rite II) using contemporary English for our prayers and includes a celebration of music with full choir.

Throughout the year we celebrate various seasonal services of worship and devotion that include: Advent Lessons & Carols, Christmas, lent, Holy Week and Easter.

8:00 AM – Traditional Eucharist
At 8:00 AM we offer the service of Holy Eucharist Rite I, with sermon. This service appeals to those individuals who prefer an earlier service time or who prefer the more traditional language similar to what was found in the 1928 Prayer Book. Congregation members enjoy this service’s contemplative nature.

9:00 AM
Every Sunday Breakfast teams of parishioners prepare a fully cooked breakfast that is served in our Parish Hall after the 8:00 AM service. This is a wonderful time for parishioners, friends and visitors to enjoy fellowship together between our services.

10:00 AM – Family Eucharist
At 10:00 AM we celebrate the service of Holy Eucharist Rite II, with sermon and a full choir. Children attend Sunday school during this service – returning to celebrate the Holy Eucharist with their families.

11:15 AM
Fellowship time in the Parish Hall with coffee, tea, and warm conversation.
